Location

Solo Signing

For our solo singing parts we wanted to have a consistent backdrop that would challenge the conventions of rnb videos. We thought that a bricked background would achieve this as most solo parts in RnB videos are located within the narratives vicinity. For example in Marques Houston's song 'That Girl' the solo part is in the same street as he was previously dancing in.

Dance Scene

To day we filmed the dance scene with the girl at Streatham hill station. The scheduled day was pushed back from Saturday due to unavoidable events, however we are still on schedule. Whilst filming, an officer told us that recording wasn't permitted on the platform unless granted permission, so we told him our intentions and was granted with that permission. There were frequent pauses throughout the filming as we would have to wait until the train passed so avoid continuity errors. The lighting at this scene was perfect for adding intimacy, whilst the addition of the train platform made it seem as if the characters are not ashamed to express themselves in public. The wide platform allowed us to explore
our choreography and follow the conventional 'female and male' dance scenes in R&B videos where they dance on a wide pavement or street.
